A little history
The DiSC instrument is based on a model created by
William Mouton Marston and
published in 1928. The Personal Profile System was one of the first
assessment instruments based on this research. This profile was
improved with the introduction of the Personal Profile System 2800
series. The test was renamed DiSC Classic in 2003.
Introducing specific applications, greater accuracy, and
additional training support
DiSC's publisher, Inscape Publishing, continually strives to
improve the DiSC profiling system by making it easier to use, more
memorable for users, and continuing to ensure that it remains
well-researched and validated. The Everything DiSC tests and
training materials were introduced to help people better understand
their work relationships. It's a library of specialized, in-depth
and easily customizable training programs.
Can I mix and match?
In short, no. The two families of DiSC products have significant
differences, even though they are based on the same model. The
assessments differ and the reports use different language and
illustrative techniques. Therefore, we do not recommend using DiSC
Classic and Everything DiSC tests together. If you have questions
about this, please call us.

you are just discovering DiSC or have used and trusted it for years,
consider using this product line, which includes the most current
research and the most user-friendly representation of DiSC.
When it might be the better choice

DiSC Classic
When DiSC Classic might be the better choice
You've already had success with this product.
If it's not broken, why fix it? If you liked the original DiSC PPS
profiles, this might be your best choice. The DiSC Classic
Facilitation System is also a great option if you want an all-in-one
toolkit with solutions for teambuilding, communication, conflict
management, sales and more.
You're giving this assessment to people who lack easy computer
access or will purchase their tests from you.
Scoring can easily be completed by hand if you use the DiSC Classic
paper version.
Price is more important than a more comprehensive experience.
You might notice that these are the least expensive profiles. This
is because it doesn’t include the latest DiSC technology and depth
of feedback of the Everything DiSC product line.

take the test before they come to training. Plus with this version,
you can choose when to give them the results.
The DiSC Classic is—well—classic. It has the longest track record
and has been used successfully by millions. You can't go wrong with
this classic choice.
